It is the last day of January (already?). Over the weekend, I watched the 26th Anugerah Juara lagu a local music competition. And this particularly nice song titled 'Awan Nano' won the main prize and also the best vocal. Funny how without elaborate & designer's costume, Hafiz, the young singer managed to gave a superb performance and delivered the song with such passion. So enjoy 'Awan Nano'..

Ok. so this is the one that I want to share here with you here. I mean, whoever reading this blog anyway *rolling eyes* haha

It is so sweet. And slightly different, told from unexpected point of view. But different is good. I mean, readers for sure will get bored if the writer keep spewed out the same or similar stuff over and over again. Unless, it's a trilogy (Girls with Dragon Tattoo) or 7-stories-series (i.e Harry Potter) or 4-stories-saga (i.e Twilights) but that's exciting, because there are plenty rooms for characters' development and the storyline can (sometimes) be soo over expanding and you wish it'll never end.

Anyway, if you ever read Marian Keyes' books before, you'll love this one too, I suppose. However, my favourite by her is Rachel's Holiday. Love it!

Allright folks, so there goes the year-end long awaited holiday. And as expected, I did not do much. Just decided early on to spend the off days by relaxing and puttering around while doing, well...nothing, sort of. And for me, one of the perfect ways of killing time is of course, by reading. However, if it is something that you really enjoyed doing, it is not exactly a hard effort to kill the passing time. I mean, same goes for a person who love to fish and willing to spend hours and hours waiting for their baits to get hooked. Others might see it as time wasted, but then, hey! Whatever that rocks your boat, man. And these are my drugs..

Hello Y'all!

Time sure does flies away in a blink. Today is already first day of December. The last month of the year! Yikes!
Moving on, so have you watched the Twilight: Breaking Dawn yet? And what do you think of it? In a nutshell, I think the film does some justice to the book. At least, we knew the screenwriters tried their best. However, the screening board here in Malaysia has gone bonkers and censored off too much of the important scenes and left the story a little bit hanging and somehow disrupted the flow of the story. I mean, pity those who have not read the book and went straight to watch the movie (there are people like that, you know).

Oh well, I suppose I can always go online and download the US version of the film and be happier watching them, like what my friend did. Lucky me, I went for a free screening of Breaking Dawn last week, so there is still chance of me going to catch the movie for 2nd time, perhaps. Honestly, if you’re fan of Twilight series, it’s a no brainer; you must go & watch it. Also, if you’re one very curious cat and would like to know what the brouhahas about the Twilights series are, now is the good time to check it out. But don’t moan , begrudge or worst, turn into a vampire and hunt me down later if you hate 'em.

Hello..

It's official. I hate Monday. so much so until I'm about to get depressed thinking that after next 6 days, it'll be here again. You know, Monday? the first day of the week, marking the end of fabulous (or not so) weekend that you enjoyed so much, the day that start off a new week. I could go on but you get what I mean. And the funny thing is, I'm not even too sure of why I despised Monday so much. Keep telling myself that it's just another day..at the end of 24 hours of it, we're rolling into new day, right? Oh well!

on a separate note, let me tell you about the picnic that I went to last Saturday. It was at this Natural Park in Kluang called Mossy Mountain (Gunung Belumut, geddit?) although I didn't make it to the top of the mountain, not for the lack of appropriate shoes but the operative word here is 'picnic' peeps!.Right, so no heavy duty hiking or trekking involved. Just a very relaxing stroll and settling down at nice spot by the river to munch on snacks and snapping some pictures here and there. Now, that's my kind of picnic. Oh right! speaking of which, without further ado (and not to be call a tease & further aggravating My favourite Photographer In Whole Wide World haha!), here are some more pictures of the place. Blerghh! How I wish that this is a vacation or a holiday trip. Apparently, It's work trip, as usual.

Anyway, here I am, at Batu Pahat.It was a 2 and half hours road trip from Kuala Lumpur. Journey was smooth and I got to catch some much needed sleep along the way.

So for the rest of the week, we're staying here. Not bad, eh? The last time I came to this town was 4 or 5 years back. Let's see if there are any changes around, no? Although, I doubt much (if any) changes had took place here.

So how was your weekend?
It was a 3 days-weekend as we celebrated the Malaysia Day on Friday, Sept 16th. Apart for smattering invites for Open houses here and there, I was actually did nothing much. In addition to some continuously rainy days, (a welcome as compared to Haze!) I was mostly just hanging out at home and watched the Die Hard Quadrilogy (yep! All 4 Die hard movies). It reminds me again why I love Bruce Willis once upon a time ago and how much I enjoyed the action packed stories. Have you seen any Die Hard movie? Or it’s not your cup of tea? Oh well, Yippie Kai Yay! ~ (as said by John McClane in the films)

Today, 10 years ago. A monumental event happened that has changed the world we live. Since I was born, I was taught that Islam means peace and to be good to your family, neighbours and friends even if they are not muslim. We learnt to respect others and to live side by side in harmony. Is it too much grandiose idea? No,it wasnt. At least,that's what I've experienced growing up (and until today), in my lovely country, Malaysia. However,I'm not that naive not to noticed or aware of some school of thoughts and islamic sects in other parts of Islamic world that are going to the extreme in their quest of fighting infidels and in name of jihad. But, when you choose and resort to violence, war and terrorist acts, does it solve any issues or indifferences that you have? What about the lives of innocent peoples? Are they just collateral? My heart goes to families of perished victims, irregardless of their beliefs and religions. I hope there are people who believe that we DO can live side by side in harmony,in this world. Peace y'all.

Hello Blog,
I apologize for neglecting you for quite sometimes. It is not my intention though. Oh well! Life is all in its usual humdrums and time keeps ticking away. At times, I do feel a bit overwhelmed with what life has thrown to me. Be it good or bad, I’m telling myself to think and take things positively. What’s the use of crying, bawling my eyes out and feeling sorry over some problems on hand? I rather trying to keep calm and be collected. That way, I can think clearer sans being too emotional. And most of all, I pray and ask for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. There are few major things are happening now but I just don’t feel like writing about it yet. Soon, I’ll let the cat out of the bag, so to speak.

It is already halfway through the month of Ramadan and I wish you well and may all of us be blessed by Allah for our ibadah performed during this holy month. Insyaallah..

I read this Malay novel and cried my hearts out. I was practically bawling. Can't stop wiping my runny nose and teary eyes while trying to finish off the story. Damn good book. One of the most sad story I've encountered. Of recent years, I'd only started to borrowed and read my sister's malay novels. She has a huge collection of it. But seriously, this is one good sappy love story that I've enjoyed. No suprise there, after all I am a sentimental at heart.

And this song was mentioned as favourite of Aleya (the heroin, main character in the story) which akin to her heart-wrenching and suffering experience. Sob sob *finding tissue now *

Listen up All Muggles! This is it, y'all!

Be ready for the ultimate end of the journey. I'm beyond excited. To think back when I was introduced and read the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone many many years ago. I still remember that I would stop at Kinokuniya after work and flipped through the pages and then left a ticket stub (instead of earmarking the pages!) and come back again the next day to continue reading it for free. I know, what a cheapskate i was! haha

And suffice to say that I'm a loyal follower ever since and never tired of reading the rest of books in the series (my personal favourite is Prisoner of Azkaban) and enjoyed all HP movies very much. It's kinda sad that now we've reach the end of story with the release of Harry Potter and Deathly Hallow pt 2 movie but nevertheless, it was a helluva great broom ride! Long live The Order of Phoenix!!

p/s: ok, I'm off to book the ticket for the show. Will update y'all once I watched the film.

Fall of Giants

Yesterday I've finished reading the latest book by one of my favourite Author, Ken Follett titled 'Fall of Giants'.

I'm so excited and overwhelmed. Although, it took me about 2 weeks to finish it, which is waaay much slower to my own liking, but I have to consider and remember that I need to get enough sleep since I was on a hectic work trip at that time and thus, only allowed myself about 30 minutes prior to bed time to read the book. Nevertheless, the story rocks! If you're a fan of Mr. Follett , don't forget to go get the book & read it, well, that is if you have not yet done so.

According to Fantasticfiction.co.uk , the book is the first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families-American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh-as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

Can't wait for the book 2 & 3 of this Series. I'm such a sucker for trilogy or series thingy. It's tricky how the writer could keep the momentum of the stories and gave enough suprises one after another in the storyline. How excited!

So many friends got sick recently. sigh

Let's try to take care of ourselves by consuming a balance diet all the time ok, so what constitute as a balance diet? The main food that should be included in your diet are like carbs (rice, bread, pasta etc), poultry, meat, seafood, dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt etc), Vegetables & fruits. Like shown in the pyramid below :-

Ideally, that would be a truly balance diet when you had consumed variety and different kinds of foods. Which later, would be digested and provide much needed energy, vitamins etc by our body. But most of the time, it's easier said than done. Of course, different people have different preference, favourites and must-have food that they love. However, I believe in moderation and try to control the food intake (esp with sugar). I love vegetables & fruits, though. And don't mind eating them at every meal time.

And oh! above anything else, drink plentiful of plain water at all time. You know your body needed it very much.

FC Barcelona won!!

They outclassed Manchester United 3-1 during final of 2011 UEFA Champions League last weekend. What an entertaining match. I love both team dearly, although finger crossed, I hope ManUtd would win, alas not the case that day. Anyhow, I'm also happy that Barca won the cup. They truly deserved it!

To Manchester United fans, nothing to be ashamed of. We're far better than some clubs who only knows how to spend, talk and so afraid to walk alone so they need a whole gang to walk together, but unfortunately they ain't going nowhere, eh.

Sometime last year in 2010, a tv series titled Nur Kasih literally blew the small screen in Malaysia and became such a big hit in a lot of household. Obviously, the next step for the production team is to churn out the movie based on its popularity. But then, after I went to watch the film recently, I was left a bit frustrated. Admittedly, the main characters were good and in certain scenes they were almost excellent. They feel real to me and it was good to see Adam, Aidil & Nur Amina in action again. But the storyline? honestly, nothing much to shout about. It feels like the writer tried to crammed as much bits and pieces to make the storyline plausible without clear flow of what was they trying to convey. Oh well, there are some good bits in the film like, how you would fight and do everything you can for the person you love. But, some sub-plot were given too much time like, realistically, how many man would go back to the scene of train wreck in the desert and try to find their wife's lost wedding ring there? I suppose, as compared to watching the tv series every week; the series felf more crisp, less-nonsense and the suspense gave much stronger impact to viewer. Even when they only run for much shorter (1 hr/week), but each week you were left wanting more. And in the series, there were many additional characters whom had gave impact to the story and also shaped the main characters to what became of them in the end (Remember Sarah? Nur Amina's spoilt & wicked little sister). Where as, the movie was basically revolved around the 3 main characters (4, if you count their mother). And beside their good acting, you were left wondering, is that all the story is about?

However, don't let my opinion stopping you from going to watch Nur Kasih the movie. For all i know, you might disagree with all i said above. But, nothing makes me happier knowing you can now can sleep better after had your dose of that Malay hunk actor; Remy Ishak.

The type of lilies that I love specifically is the one in the picture below. And I haven't finish browsing through the net to find out what kind of Lily exactly is that & what are they called. I've been told that it is Tiger Lily, but some said it's not. I'm sure it's from same Lilies family, but I'm not sure of its variety yet. But nevertheless, that's the kind I love most!

It always been my favourite flower of all time. I do love other kind of flowers too, but this is wee bit more special to me.With its very unique pattern and bold looks; in full blooms they are very charming and smells nice too. Alas, it is a matter of personal preference. For all i know, you despise and hate them. Who cares?

Seriously, it's now getting into 2nd week without rain. at all. And it was hot like hell! (or probably less hotter, but how should i know,eh?)
I whined when it was raining all the time, and now I whine when it was hot. What do i want? what??

Wowweee!!! Pheww! *wiping perspiration off my forehead*

Red Devil won the crucial game last night! I was so nervous (as if!) and almost on the verge to start biting my nails (again) while watching ManUtd beating Chelsea to remain ahead with 6 points advantage. At this point in the League run and when it's matter most, Red Devil prevailed and proved that they are the best! I hope they'll do well in the next 2 games against Blackburn (May 14th) and Blackpool (May 22nd). Seriously, that should be easy peasy for them, alas, cockiness aside, anything could happen, eh?

Chicharito Hernandez & Nemanja Vidic are the goal scorer. But Hernandez's was in 36th seconds into the match was brilliant!

Winning the season's League title is always fantastic. It is almost what everybody expecting them to do. But, a chance to win 2 Cups (League Title AND European Champion's League) in one season, now that's something superbly awesome!! Not that it's never unheard of, ManUtd even has had done a Treble (League, Champion League & FA Cup) in season 98-99. It was the highest high and the exhilarating lasts for many-many years afterwards.

This time around, another double is our sight. Manchester United is already in final of Champion's League and will meet Barcelona FC (on May 28th). I don't know what to make of that yet, cause I love Barca too!! Yikes!

Land Below The Wind

It's Monday, of another week.

I am at Kota Kinabalu. Capital City of Sabah State. Located on Borneo island. Or the other name or moniker for Sabah is 'The land below the wind'.

That's quite funny, all land are below the wind lah. Wind blows above ground right? then how come they call Sabah - Land below the wind? I'm not sure. And I don't really care.

This is the second week that I was away from home. It's getting mundane & a tiny wee bit homesick is already kicking in. The only thing that I'm looking forward to for next few days is spending good times with bunch of (crazy) officemates - hanging out after office hours with my friends and bitching about our bosses. Haha!

Last Saturday, was pure hell. Whole department has practically gathered here (bosses included) and we had sports' friendly matches. Due to lower number of us girls, I have to played PingPong, Badminton and later in the afternoon, futsal too. What a crap I am! I was soo out of stamina and breathing like a tired dog in no time! my skills are nothing to shout about and basically, I was sucks.Big time. But hey! luckily, it was just friendlies, and most of us have not been in sports attire for many months (if not years!)

Moral of the story, go back and start work out, chah! exercise and better yet, hit the gym. Oh, I know, there's one gym located about 300 metres from my cubicle at office. perhaps, I could climb up the Mount Kinabalu, one day?

Memories could bring tears to your eyes, y'know. It hit you back and suddenly you remember almost clearly as yesterday of what had happened few years back. Especially when you visit and be again at a place where you've been before. You're reminded of that moments, the people you're with and things you did. But now, all that left are memories in your head. Currently, I'm at Kuching and being here reminds me of many people that I actually kinda missed but didn't realized, until I'm here and see the familiar places we've been to. Weird? or not.

Birthday keeps appearing so fast nowadays, y'all. It seems only few months ago when I celebrated one and tadaaa!! Today marking another year that has passed by. I’m overwhelmed with all the well wishes and prayers coming my way. Be it from family, friends and acquaintances all over the place. Even without presents, I’m overjoyed with their thoughts and the fact that they remember. If anything, I’m sure it’s the reminder on Facebook that does the job, but hey! One will actually have to do some clicking and typing at least, so it’s the effort that counts. Thanks people!
Owh, I know what I’m wishing for my birthday all right. But somehow, if they didn’t materialize or not happening according to my plan or wishes; then, its fine. I’ll work harder for it. But most of all, I’m thankful and feeling much gratitude to Allah swt for this life, health and chance to live another day. I’m not a rocket scientist or famous politician (not yet, anyway! haha) but I hope that by being a daughter, sister, girlfriend, work colleague, friend or mere an acquaintance to you, I do have given some (if not much) impact and made my mark in the life of people that matters to me.

I am far from perfect, though. Weaknesses, quirks and bad habits of mine are countless! Haha. But I’m trying my best. I think, there’s no stopping to strive for betterment and it’s not as if you’re looking to achieve no.1 spot in everything in this life. That will be boring; I mean, if you told yourself that you had arrived. Then what? Why so dead set trying to achieve so-called certain standards in life? Whose standard, anyway? I rather be imperfect and happy knowing that I still have so many things to improve and achieve in my life. Like that famous saying, ‘Change is the only constant thing in life’. Besides, I think being 34 is not so bad, eh?

My biggest birthday present last year turned 1 year old today!! Happy Birthday to Nadine Safiya, my god daughter who shared this special day with me. Mak Chah love you long time, Dutchess!

And this year biggest birthday present?? Of course la when my Brother got married and I got a new sister in law!

My little/baby/kid brother got married today. Apparently, he’s not a baby anymore now. Jai was born 5 years after me. As the youngest and the last of siblings he was spoilt rotten by everybody in the family. We are so close since we’re small and we shared so many things between us. I always feel like he is one of my best friends. He is someone that I can talk to and share about stuff. He listened, he got my points when I’m talking and as far as I’m concern, his opinion counts to me, and vice versa. He is, without doubt, the brainiest and smartest in the family. He scored much more excellent result in SPM examination (as compared to mine! Haha) and got accepted for A-level program and then to pursue his degree in Germany. After spent almost 7 years in Germany, he was back for good last year. Even though we were apart for many years, we did keep in touch and communicate as much possible over that period. He never changed. He is the same person I’ve known all my life. And when he’s here, if feels cool to just hang out with my all-grown-up brother and chill out together. He told me his secrets (stuff he doesn’t want our parents knows) and I do the same, all the time. He is my confidante. The secret keeper and staunch supporter too. I don’t feel like I’m losing him at all. If anything, I think we’ve grown much closer now. Although I feel bad and a bit guilty for not able to make it to his Nikah event today, we’re going to meet and rock his reception this Saturday. And although he got married earlier than me, he ‘gave’ me a younger sister that I never have! And I’m overjoyed. To Ada, Congratulation and welcome to the family.

Jai, I don't have any shred of doubt that you’ll be a great husband and father. I love you, Bro!

I just got back from a work trip where I trawled 2 towns of eastern peninsular Malaysia namely Kota Bharu & Kuala Terengganu. The weather was super hot but the food were delicious, as ever.

And as of now, I kinda miss the blue sky of Kuala Terengganu and of course, the charming and laidback friendly people there.

I have not been entertained by a film with Musical genre for a long time since 2007’ Hairspray. It was fun and very colorful with a not bad storyline too. But I might be bias. Because to me, any film with John Travolta in it couldn’t do wrong. Even though, Travolta played Mrs. Turnblad, a lady and a mother but he did it superbly. A sexy one too!

2009’ Nine was touted as supposedly to be a super sexy and cool but I found it just so-so albeit it’s very dark and somber-mood lighting throughout and the storyline? pffht! it was nothing much to shout about except the glittering list of female actress on it.

During my childhood, what with limited opportunity to catch movies at cinemas, I would say most musicals films that I watched were what is on television at that time and like (most) other childrens who have penchant for anything musical, I was transported to a dreamy and what could be an exciting life with a nanny of my own as in 1965’ Sound of Music and 1964’ Mary Poppins. Julie Andrew rocks! I heart her for a long long time.

Then, I remember a time when everybody are going crazy over 1977’ Saturday Night Fever and 1978’ Grease. And when I got to watched it (many years after it was first released) oh boy! Travolta is really hot, man! And that’s it. I’ve officially fallen for him.

Of recent years, there are few remakes that left lasting impression to me like 1996’ Evita with Madonna played the role of Eva Duarte who was married to Juan Peron, one of Argentina President. I watched the movie with college friends out of boredom and because nothing else playing at that lousy cinema in Kuantan and ended up loving it. For a while, I’ve also gone crazy over the glamour & glitz of Bohemian culture at Montmatre district, Paris as shown in 2001’ Moulin Rouge! and needless to say, Christian (Ewan McGregor) and Satine (Nicole Kidman) are one of my favourite couple on screen. Ever.

And then, of course there was 2002’ Chicago. A musical film adapted from the satirical stage musical that featured Catherine Zeta-Jones as Velma Kelly, Renee Zellweger as Roxie Hart and Richard Gere as the delectable Billy Flynn. Queen Latifah and Taye Diggs are also in the movie. I swooned over many excellent tracks from the movie, seriously.

And come on, of course the fantastic songs and dance pieces are the attraction in a musical, right? You could see they did some cool moves and perfectly-executed routines, sang their hearts out and basically, telling the stories through the songs. Like when you’re watching 2006’ Dreamgirls. It was such a joy to see Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx performed the songs in the movie because you know there are singers/performers in real life and they did something different but not entirely strange thing in the film (acting and singing). Not all actors and actresses can sing and that’s a fact. But when an actor or actress took upon the challenge and did musical and executed it well (or at least half decently), I applaud them.

In the case of 2008’ Mamma Mia! I was quite skeptical and wondering how Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth’s performances in the film, but I think they did well. The film was based on ABBA famous songs and needless to say, there are all excellent sing-along tracks. As proven by my nephew and niece who belted ‘Honey, Honey’ and ‘Money, Money, Money’ at the top of their lungs every time we were in the car. For 3 months straight. I died.

So do you like or watch musical-type of movie? At all? Which is your favourite? And tomorrow I’ll let you know what my current favourite is. I have not been as excited like this for musical for a long time!

Just because it's Wednesday. And I just came back from 4-days weekend and my mind kinda mushy (don't it everyday, Chah?!) And the fact that I'm working this upcoming weekend is only making me more depressed.

Apparently, one of the things that make it bearable and cheer me up with no end is looking at my God daughter's pictures! Thank god for Nadine Safiya!

Millenium Trilogy

Hello.

Have you read these books? or have you even heard of these super cool, excellent, thrilling and wonderful books that form a 'Millenium Trilogy' created by a swedish author Stieg larsson? If yes, Yeay! and if you dont, Owh man! go get your copies now.

1st book

This is where it all started. We'll get to know Millenium magazine - Journalist, Mikael Blomkvist and also the heroine (and coolest character ever, i think!) - Lisbeth Salander. You might want to read this, if you would like to roughly get some ideas, or glimpse of the story. But I tell you, you'll get hooked to the story. I promise, you'll not regret it :P

2nd book

Ahh..in the 2nd book, the plot gets thicker. Mikael 'Kalle' Blomkvist' path again crossed with Lisbeth Salander's in a most unexpected and suspense-filling story-line. (I think I sounded like a promo trailer clip haha!)

3rd book

And in 3rd book, the story revolve around how Blomkvist is trying to rally up Lisbeth' believers and supporters to help her clean her name from the triple-murders accusation. While, doing that, we get to know more and more secrets of Lisbeth's life and how she became what she is.

Apparently, the books were already adapted into movies with character of Blomkvist played by actor Michael Nyqvist and Lisbeth's was potrayed by Noomi Rapace. However, not to be outdone, Hollywood is also interested to churned out their version of Blomkvist & Lisbeth with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara (although there were earlier rumors of Kristin Stewart and Natalie Portman were interested/considered for the role too!) signed on as the main characters! I have not watched any of the movie (the Craig/Mara version is not yet out, I think), so i'm very looking forward to that. In fact I would like to see ANY of the movie that I can get my hands on.

It's February, already?

Hello y'all.

I hope it’s not too late to wish Gong Xi Fa Cai or Happy New Year to all Chinese friends celebrating the New Lunar year recently. The company was closed for 3 days and as the result, I had about 6 days-long break (plus weekend + 1 day annual leave taken) and headed back to my hometown last week. Nice.

However, the weather was not bright and sunny as I hoped it’ll be. But during the break, me and my gang (my niece & nephew) managed to go swimming for 3 hours despite some little drizzle in the afternoon. Crazy nice.
And this week in my office, few married-chinese friends have been so kind and gave me Ang Pows. Super nice.

And work is catching up real fast. It’s getting busier by the day. And I don’t believe that I’ve been here for 9 years already! Errk! Not nice anymore.

I can still recall vividly the phase (circa 1992 ish). The time period, some (now funny!) events or moments that has led us to became best of friends until today. We were thrown in a same class since 2 years before and were already friends within a large group of people. However, as we reach at that particular time, some circumstances and probably by universe's cosmic alignments, we ended up being closest than ever. Just the 2 of us.

I started to really understand the true meaning of friendship then. Here, a one person whom you can count on, who selflessly made sacrifices and ready to fight for you. A dear friend who is willingly to knock your head with truth(s) and make you see it no matter how hurtful it was! And most of all, a one human being that you've never tired of being with. Make you miss her company when you're apart and made you cherish every memories you've created together.

Miles and distances would only separate us physically. But who cares? No matter where we are, knowing that you'll always be there for me is uplifting and bring such a joy to my heart. And friend, you know I'll walk the fire for you, right?

We've been through a lot for the last 19 years or so. And time flies so fast you don't even feel it went by. I'm glad and thankful for this beautiful friendship. So yeah, have a great 34th birthday today and have a many many happy years ahead!

Island Life..is not for me!

Owh! I miss writing here. I miss bloghopping. yes! I miss you! (err.. even if nobody miss reading me here haha)

But anyway, I 'm currently out of the office and have been on Labuan island since last week. All I can say about Island life is : Boringgg! haha. Seriously, for an island this size, nothing much to see and definitely not many places that you can go too! so it's strictly work, work & work for me and the other 2 colleagues of mine. But if you think that I only thought of 'work matter' all the time, then by golly, you don't know me well, my friend.

I made a quick trip by ferry to Kota Kinabalu via (Menumbok port) last Friday with my colleague. We followed a local staff who was going back to KK to visit his family and we spent 2 nights at a hotel in KK for a short shopping trip & managed to met up with old friends there. The ferry ride on Friday night was smooth (it's a huge ferry - one where all sort of vehicles can came on board) and very stable. You didn't even feel the waves the fact that we bought and swallowed seasick pill (Novomin) right before the journey made us laughed! (and drowsy to the point where we fell asleep even before the ferry take off). After 1 and half hour, we reached Menumbok (a very-very small town) and continue the journey by road for 2 hours to reach KK. Luckily our friend is driving a cool and very comfortable car, so I didn't feel the hours at all. By Sunday afternoon, we were back in Labuan. and here I am. Dreading the next few days before I'm off to Peninsular Malaysia again.

p/s: The only comfort being here is that : Prices for (imported) chocolates are dirty cheap! and Liquor & ciggarettes too.

It has been a 'blerghh' day so far. Nothing extraordinary.
And I don't know why suddenly I have this strong urge to smell these perfumes again. I kinda miss to smell them. There are either; perfumes that I had bought/used/wear sometime before or it's my favourites (on other ppl and reminds me of them everytime I smell it anywhere!) or it's a men's perfumes that give me the 'Whoaa! I'm-melted-effect whenever I smell it on a guy. Owh, you know what I mean. So yeah, it could be your favourite too or you could hate them with passion. I don't mind a bit at all. You see, our nose' functions could be same or similar, but we don't necessarily likes the same smell, right?

Ralph Lauren Polo Sport Women - reminds me of my BFF, specifically during our college time. I will smile whenever I remembered her sporty active lifestyle, fun, happening and her positive outlook on life. Such optimist heart & that's why I love her!

Calvin Klein - CK One & Eternity. Also reminds me of college days. Because they are such hit favourites among us girls at that time. and ooh! Eternity for Men is sexy!

Cacharel D' eau Eden - First perfume that I bought with my scholarship money. Reminds me of (of course) crazy college days and (crazier) friends at that time. I still remembered the place, it was at parkson Dept Store at this mall at Kuantan called Kuantan Plaza or to be cool; we call it KUPLA.

Gucci - Rush 2 reminds me of my eldest sister. Sophisticated but ironically, I think this is very youngish & quite girly smell for a forty-something. But then, whatever that rocks your boat man, as they said.

Christian Dior - J'adore reminds me of my second sister. She, of course is very much crazier and much more adventurous than me in our perfume taste and choices. However, whenever I smell of J'adore I'll think of her cause I don't know anybody else who is wearing this one haha!

Chanel Chance - one of the nicest smell perfume that I ever bought. Love it so much.
Hugo Boss - Bottled. Owh! this is one perfume that will surely make my knees weak. I'll buy this for my future husband. Enough said :P

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue - My one and truly favourite perfume of all time. Can never be tired of this smell. Love it so much. Am even more excited if I smell it on other girls. Yo sis! haha! I think I've used up about 8 bottles of these mojo.

Never say never..of cheesecake

I've never been much of a fan for cheese cake all these while. Yes, I do eat them, but I don't have sleepless night if I can't get any during some crazy craving bout ( not that I have any) and I had tried many types or flavours in between, but none really left lasting impression. Until last night. My BFF introduced me to a Japanese bakery @ Isetan, Suria KLCC called Miki Ojisan No Mise (Uncle Miki's Shop) and their lovely, marvellous, awesome and super smooth cheese cake I've ever eaten. Ladies & Gentleman, to quote Rachel Zoe; I die.

Today, I woke up smiling especially when remembering the good moments last night. Got to spent an awesome time with some of my best friends. I had dinner @ Madam Kwan's with SRR + MAM and UZA. and later, Karaoke session (minus UZA who has to rush back to office, what?? meeting @ 8PM? :P) and together with Eds. Finally, I also got to meet his fiance, AB. Such a sweet girl and have an excellent voice too! I loike!

I lost the will to write here and was attacked by a specific lazy-bug that caused serious laziness to update the blog! That’s what happened to me for the last 2 weeks. For a while, I was scared that it might be permanent (gasp!) and after 2 weeks unplanned hiatus, here I am. Back here again.

So, yeah, the long holiday and Eid celebration was fun. I ate a lot of delicious food and went all over my hometown visiting friends’ houses. It was more like a gathering of old friends from school and we’re lucky to have a chance to meet up and updated each other of the latest news concerning ourselves and our other friends (and also gossiping! haha) I even met my long lost friend from my primary school days. And then, we got hold of our favourite teacher who happened to be in town and managed to meet and do some catch up with her. The last time I saw her was in 1989, and that was like, 21 years ago! It was truly a walk down memory lane.

During the long break and beside the eating sessions with friends, I also learnt how to make Chocolate Moist Cake from my sister in law. It’s very simple and the taste is so heavenly! Look at the pictures below.

Told ya it was going to be a looong weekend, right?

I went to visit my best friend and had an outrageously delicious seafood. I'll let you see the pic of the Chilli Crab - ergh! it's to die for! Then I went back to my hometown and chilled out at home with my nephews & nieces. and that was it. I'm so lazy to upload the pics now.

Long weekend ahead

Hi all.

It's already wednesday. In anticipating the long weekend starting this Friday, I am inundated with so many plans and some errands to do. But then, we'll see if I have the will & strong enough to dive and join the throngs of people doing their shopping for Aidil Fitri festival this weekend.

See, this friday 27/8 is a Public Holiday for Nuzul Quran Day (17th Day of Ramadhan) and next Tuesday 31/8 will be Malaysia's 53rd Independence Day. I just applied for 1 day leave for Monday 30/8 and there, a nice 5 days weekend to enjoy. Kinda neat, eh?

No definite plan yet as of today. But I know I'll be driving back to Hometown for Iftar with family.

If weather permits, I might drive further to coastal area and hit the beach? during fasting days? hmm..not impossible and why not?

Anyway, I'll leave you with this video of lady Antebellum - need you now. This is quite sad song. But at the same time, kinda uplifting. Oh well, you can either like it or hate it, I don't mind a bit.

shouting as loud as possible & cursing this nagging-painful-almost killing-me lower left last molar of mine. Oii! this is truly hurt. And I'm still fasting. Can't wait to see a dentist later tonight or (gulp!) tommorow. Chances are, no dentist still open past 6 or 7 pm, so I'm already prepared with Dyfenamic 250mg - pain killer! I freaking pray it'll works.

Right, so we're well into first few days of fasting. Hope all is well with you.

I had recently went to watch the movie ' Salt' . Unless you are a die hard fan of Angelina Jolie and her kick-ass moves, you'll find this a bit of stereotype and almost similar to her previous action flicks (re: Tomb Raider, Mr& Mrs. Smith & Wanted) Having said that, in all fairness the story lines are all different, but seeing her in all too familiar moves and super cool capabilities kind of make you appreciate her more in film like Changeling. In the film, Jolie is Evelyn Salt who is CIA Agent and accused of being a KGB sleeper agent and on the run to clear her name. More can be read here

What to say about this tv series. In all it's glory, most elegant, swankiest (and darkside) of 60s - I'm hooked. I know the series debut 2 summers (few years) ago, but then, the downside of living at the other end of the world is that it took some time to reach our shore. And I meant, the DVD box set, not the actual running show on TV - not sure whether Mad Men will ever be running on local channel anytime soon. Anyway, all is well and I got my fix of all 3 seasons somewhere late last year. Season 4 opened last night in US and in the mean time, I'll probably scouring whatever bits and pieces I can get online. What a pity. Did I mention about the leading star? a good looking, talented with ever-brooding expression Jon Hamm. He is delicious. If you haven't heard of Mad Men - read more here, here, here, and here. Owh! I missed the 5th birthday of this blog by a month. The first post dated June 16th, 2005. And although for the next 3 years after that, post and entries were sporadic and inconsistent, I knew somehow that I'll always come back to blogspot and pour (some of) my hearts out here. This is such a special place to me, indeed. Of late, I've been actively blogging here and to tell you the truth, visitors are not totally shun out, but don't expect warm welcome either coz I write mainly just for myself. And of course, all opinions and thoughts belong to me and I don't try to make anybody happy here except myself. Anyway, this is MY feel good space and not yours. Scoff!

The Power Of One

Hello all,

I know the World Cup 2010 is over and all the hypes are now quieting down. But in actual fact, my fascination with African Continent, in particular South Africa has started about 12 years ago. It all began when I borrowed a book from my best friend (it was his brother’s book actually!). Its title is ‘The Power of One’ by Bryce Courtenay. Boy, I was hooked! I was so in love with the story and ended up reread it for like another 10 times. I even gave it to my brother to read and he also likes it so much.
The setting of the story was circa 1940-ish and apartheid is already poisoning and dividing the nation. ‘Peekay’ grew up and truly survived all the hardships he encountered along the way to achieve his dream of becoming the Welterweight Boxing Champion. He was sent as 5 yrs old to a bording school where he is the only English among the Afrikaner and was bullied by students at the hostel led by biggest boy called ‘Judge’. On Peekay’s way to East Transvaal town of Barberton to his new home, he met Hoppie Gronewald (Boxing Champion of South African Railways) on the train and learnt about boxing. He later met and befriended a German Professor whom he called ‘Doc’ who took him under his wing and nurtured and taught him so much from Latin, Botany, Mathematics, chess and also piano. He was awarded scholarship to study at Johannesburg Prince of Wales School and there Peekay met his Jewish friend, Morrie Levy and together they embarked on the interesting journey of education, boxing matches, taking bets and forming ‘the Bank’ for their fellow students at school. Both are also involved in the movement to educate Afrikans (black people) and later were instructed to stop by Police. Nevertheless, that episode left black remark on Peekay’s application for Rhodes scholarship to study in Oxford. He was frustrated and felt that he had let his mother and grandpa down. Heck, even whole Barberton town were frustrated. And that includes his boxing coach and team at the local prison where he trained. Peekay’s name also became more and more famous after he won many matches and excelled as a boxer. However, he surprised everybody when he decided to go and worked in the Copper mines at Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) to save money for his own education. Peekay has grown into a matured man of his own and never waver from his belief instilled by Hoppie that said ‘first with the head, then with the heart’.

Oh well, if you want to read much more about the story, you can check out the much longer and details on the plot at here . Bottom line, go and read the book. I have since scouted Bryce Courtenay books whenever I could. A truly gifted story teller and I love his style of writing. Awesome reads, I think. And yeah, after so many moths holding it (at that time), I finally returned the book to my friend and few years back, I borrowed it back and has since kept it under my care. I even started to read it again few days ago. Hence, this post.

Gerhana (english : Eclipse)

I finally went to watch the Eclipse. 3rd part of Twilight Saga. And to tell you the truth; It was pretty awesome! I like the facts that they're telling background stories of some vampires in Cullen coven ( Rosalie & Jasper ). Edward (Rob Pattinson) & Bella (Kristin Stewart) are convincing enough but Jacob (Taylor Lautner).. oh wow! he is a hunk! total heart breaker and he got such amazing body. I don't understand why some critics said that 'Eclipse' kind of boring and gave quite bad review, where as I think, if you read all Twilight books and knows the storyline & characters - you will appreciate whatever effort they made to bring the story to life. I know of course that, an adapted film could never be 100% or exact blow by blow as detailed out in the book, but as a fan, you go and just enjoy the movie whole heartedly especially when the characters were saying their dialogues exactly like what was written in the book.

Right on Dear..and then I'm off to our wonderfully made kitchen to boil some hot water for tea. While there, let me just whip-and-bake some delicious scones or pavlava to go with the piping hot tea.

Ahh..what a dream. I mean, the wonderfully made kitchen, not the whole charade of being almost a servant-like and obidient type of a wife to a husband like that. It's ok to spoil your loved one once in a while, but not to make it a custom. They'll ended up being just that - spoilt spouse. Trust me, I'd seen the prove of it. If I am to be someone's wife one day in future, he would have to take me as I am. Not perfect but continously working on it. and same goes for him. He does not have to be a superbly good looking, but I value more the good personality. Qualities like attentive, open minded, having similar wavelength of thinking and adventurous type of person. And oh! I don't mind a romantic and occasional bouquet of flowers too! Anyway..where were we? Ahh kitchen. No doubt it's an important part of any house and let's continue enjoying some very fabulous kitchen made up by these designers I came accross while browsing the House Beautiful recently.

Oh My God! Spain Won the World Cup 2010!!! I told ya`..Spaniards are the best! and the match was super charged with action packed and a physical game at best, couple with most generous amount of yellow cards being thrown about. Congratulations Spaniards! Usted es el mejor! David Villa tried his best but did not scored. Xavi, Ramos, Alonso and Puyol worked their hardest. And when Fabregas & Torres were brought in, they also created lots of chance which in the end, Iniesta managed to grab the opportunity and did what he did best. Iniesta truly proved that he's one of the best player. Such a great playmaker.

And what is wrong with the Dutch lot? played like a bunch of thugs! seriously, De Jong should be red carded, no question asked for that kick to chest of Alonso! and Heitinga well deserved the red he got.

Ahh...the sweet victory to the greatest team of all!El espana fantástico!

And this is as the reminder of how ugly the dutch played. Such sore losers!

ok, now let's back to our mundane, boring life. Haha

Atomic Kittens!

Hah! these are not atomic, or at least free from any nuclear particles. If that's any of your concern. My best friend found these kittens in front of her beauty spa and brought them home. Owh! so sweet. After we bathed & cleaned them up, these lot are ready to rumble and tumble. I picked one and gave the name Alex as I'm not sure whether it's a male or female YET. If it's a he, the full name will be Alexander/Allejandro or if it's a girl, then it'll be Alexandra/Alexis. Wah! so many names! I got myself confused too. The other two were named Jacob (as in Jacob Black from Twilight fame. Although I swear there is no black colouring/stripe at all on his body!) and the other one called Winda (of this one currently-running Infonesia soap drama, Benci Bilang Sayang). So far so good. They're curious little things! I love to play with them. *Melt*

And oh! Spain is in Final of World Cup! How bout that? Woot! Viva Espana~

David Villa es totalmente impresionante. Spain is my favourite (out of 3 teams. Chile & US are already out of the race) to win the World Cup. I'm obssesed with the whole Spanish squad.
